Joshua Molloy is back in Dublin after a stint at Her Majesty's Pleasure but everything has changed while he was away. The property market has shot down the tubes, which is bad news for his old associates in the drugs business. Molloy wants to go straight but it doesn't take long for his old life to come back and haunt him. Somebody wants his former boss dead and fingers are pointing at Molloy. He enlists solicitor Noelle Diggins to help him get access to his young son, born while he was on the inside, but she has her own problems. Her husband, a property mogul, has done a runner and a lot of short-changed people have good reason to track him down. Legendary crime reporter Alan Slate is keeping a watchful eye on things, but he has his own demons to battle with.
